Therapy and Therapists Recommendations

Getting therapy once you or you loved one is injured is VITAL! I hope you will find my Therapy and Therapists recommendations helpful! It is important that you take all these recommendations with a grain of salt. Some therapists might have different personalities than what work for you, just be aware that I am telling you what gave me success! Everyone is different!

Occupational/Physical- Waleed Al-Oboudi: This man is truly the best! He is someone who seems to have an infinite amount of knowledge on head injury/stroke! His main practice is in La Jolla, California, in southern California while he has another practice in Foster City, California in the Bay Area or Northern California. Not to mention, his advice is normally spot on and very insightful in ways that you would never imagine. Here is a link to his practices!

Neuro-Cognitive Speech- Lisa Levine Sporer: Lisa offered me a new perspective on potential growth. She is a straightforward person and will tell you the truth! She helped me explore new ways of looking at myself and helped me grow in indescribable ways! Here is her website!

Another cognitive speech therapist, that I have had the pleasure of working with is Vicky Fukuhara. She is a therapist that I first started working with almost immediately after my initial brain injury. She helped me find my way through the “fog” that I often found myself in. She is a very positive person with a wide range of value! Here is her link:

Soft-Tissue- Maryanne Nehmans: Before I first started working with Waleed, I worked with a physical trainer, my friend’s father, and before every workout with him, Maryanne would stretch me out and allow me to get the most possible when working with Tim, the trainer.

Mary Ann Nahmens, PT

Vision Therapy- Berkeley School of Optometry: This facility is on par with Waleed quality! Before I got the opportunity to be seen by the doctors at this facility, I traveled as far a New Haven, Connecticut in hopes of finding some resolution to my vision problems. When going to Meredith Morgan Eye Center on University of California at Berkeley’s campus, I was given homework in hopes of taking care of my vision problems, slowly but surely! I ended up participating in an article written especially for the clinic. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy- Although this type of therapy is not backed by the medical field in general, this is something that worked wonders for me. After doing many sessions, the “fog” that I have mentioned many times before, began to lift and things felt as though they were clearer and more absolute or concrete.
